+ 1.3 Megapixel built-in webcam
+ Integrated Intel GMA 4500HD graphics

Lenovo IdeaPad U150 cons:

- Might get too warm
- A bit to expensive
- Not too good speakers
The design:
Lenovo IdeaPad U150 measures 11.4 x 7.5 x 1.4 inch and weighs 3.2 pounds. The keyboard in the has large enough keys for comfortable writing even if you have larger fingers. The keys are responsive and and comfortable to use so you can quickly get accustomed to the whole keyboard. The touchpad is a bit too small, but responsive and it get the job done quite nicely. It supports multitouch gestures and has dual mouse buttons which makes it even more comfortable. The netbook has decent connectivity: 3USB ports, eSATA, HDMI and VGA ports. Moreover, you also get the 4-in-1 memory card reader.

Performance:
The 11.6-inch screen is capable of displaying 1366 x 768 pixels and it shows bright and accurate colors. The integrated Intel GMA 4500HD graphics let you watch 720p videos without too much effort. It seems that the Lenovo IdeaPad U150’s weakest point is the audio quality which compared to the graphics performance is rather weak. Although the sound is quite loud it can’t compare to Acer Aspire One 532h, or Samsung N510.
The 1.3 megapixel webcam above the screen does a very good job even in poor light so conferencing with the Lenovo IdeaPad U150 should be seamless. When it comes to the overall performance of this Lenovo netbook it scores a bit above the category average. So although its price is also slightly above the average its performance compensates that.
The battery in the netbook also runs longer than an average netbook and not just a few minutes, but an entire hour! This small device can wirelessly browse the internet for over six and a half hours on one charge.
Conclusion:
All in all, if video performance i a lot more important to you that the netbook’s audio quality the Lenovo IdeaPad U150 might be just the right netbook for you. It will enable you to watch HD movies and play some games for a quite reasonable price.
+ Large and comfy touchpad
+ Outstanding battery life
+ Competitive price
+ Windows 7 starter
+ 160GB HDD

Acer Aspire One 532h cons:

- Gets slightly hot on bottom left
- Keyboard might be too small for some users
- Chassis is a fingerprint magnet

Conclusion:
The Acer Aspire One 532h is powerful enough to allows browsing multiple websites, listening to music and watching a video at the same time. It has good speakers and high quality screen and although you won’t play games on it the netbook is good for office work. Especially considering its price.

Samsung N510 is a new sleek notebook with powerful battery, good graphics performance and nice design. But most importantly it has the new NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Ion graphics chip thanks to which it is a real monster among netbooks.

Samsung N510 pros:

+ 11.6-inch display
+ Good speakers and audio quality
+ Touchpad and keyboard are very comfy
+ Good graphics performance
+ Excellent HD video playback
+ Above average battery performance (with Windows 7)

Samsung N510 cons:

- Price is a bit too high
- Boot up takes a while

The design:
The Samsung N510 measures 10.7 x 7.4 x 1.2-inch and weighs 3.2 pounds. The netbook has a glossy black lid which attracts fingerprints quite fast. Under the lid you will see that the Samsung N510 has matte plastic of high quality and solid look. The keyboard in the Samsung N510 is almost full sized, with responsive and well placed keys. The touchscreen is big (2.8 x 1.6 inch) and supports multitouch gestures. Below the touchscreen there is only one long bar so if you need a left click you click on the left and for the right click you have to press it on its right side. The right side of the Samsung N510 features power, mic, headphone and the two USB ports, whereas the left side houses the Ethernet, HDMI, VGA and a chargeable USB. On the front of the Samsung N510 you will find the 3-in-1 memory card reader. Above the display is the 1.3 megapixel camera recording quite high quality (yet slightly dark) image.

Performance:
The Samsung N510 netbook with its powerful (for a netbook) graphics card heats up a bit after a prolonged use with some HD videos. It is not a cause for concern but something to bear in mind. The 11.6-inch screen on the Samsung N510 displays 1366 x 768 resolution. It produces very accurate colors and since it is matte is has great sunlight legibility. The viewing angles are good and there are generally no issues with the screen.
When it comes to the netbook’s performance it is above the average for this class of devices with is score of almost 1,250 points on the PCMark Vantage. All in all, the Samsung N510 performs very well and even with multitasking – that is a movie, music player, a word processor and an internet browser you can work without delays. When it comes to the graphics performance the Samsung N510 is almost 8 times better than the netbook average so if the graphics performance is important for you, you can forget about the Gateway LT2016u, or Sony VAIO X.

The design:

Sony VAIO X measures 10.95 x 0.55 x 7.29 inches and weighs 1.4 pounds with the battery so it is the lightest notebook in the world (at the moment). Sony decided to use the magnesium alloy in the production and finish the lid with carbon fiber which add the the netbook’s endurance. The Sony VAIO X was designed to be small so it couldn’t house a full keyboard so the one inside the netbook is about 88% of the normal size. The keyboard is generally comfortable if you have small hands, or are used to such devices, yet the right Shift key is a bit small. The trackpad measures 2.1 x 1.6 inches and supports multitouch gestures just like Apple MacBooks.
The 11.1-inch display on the Sony VAIO X shows up to 1366 x 768 resolution which is is quite unusual for such small netbooks. The colors are crisp and the image is very vivid also at wide angles. Both the horizontal and vertical viewing angles are outstanding.
The audio quality in the Sony VAIO X is, unsurprisingly, not that good. That’s only natural as the speakers cannot be very big in such a small body. The speakers are not only too quiet, but also the overall quality is rather poor and the bass is nonexistent.
The left side of the Sony VAIO X features two USB ports and a headphone jack, whereas the right side houses the Ethernet and VGA ports. There is also the SD Card reader and the Sony Memory Stick slot.
The built-in webcam records videos in VGA resolution and is sufficient for running Skype conferences and for casual conversations.

Performance:

In performance tests the Sony VAIO X does quite well scoring above the netbook average in almost all respects. Starting up Windows 7 took less than a minute and the mixed bag of data was copied at slightly over 27 MBps.
Although the Sony VAIO X does not do very well in graphics performance test the netbook is capable of playing 720p videos smoothly.
The wireless performance of the Sony netbook is also among the average for netbooks.
The netbook does not overheat so even after prolonged and demanding use it should feel comfortable on your lap.

Conclusion:

The Sony VAIO X is a really decent netbook but its price makes it a bit of a show-off. For a comparable price you may get a full size laptop, or even a MacBook.

The design:

Gateway LT2016u measures 10.2 x 7.2 x 1.0 inches and weighs 3 pounds. The netbook has glossy lid so it might attract fingerprints, still id does look nice. Inside, the 10.1” display is surrounded by a shiny black bezel and only the built-in webcam is silver-rimmed. The might not be the slimmest and lightest netbook in the world but those are the features you need to sacrifice if you want to have the 6 hour battery life.
The keyboard on the Gateway LT2016u is not full sized, yet with its 89% of the regular size it is still large enough. And as the keys are responsive and tactile writing is generally comfy.
The touchpad measures 2 x 1.4 inches and so there is little space to move your fingers around. Additionally, there is only one button under the touchpad which provides good feedback, but still you won’t make a right click.
The Gateway LT2016u has the usual set of ports such as VGA, Ethernet jack, USB port mike and headphone jacks, all on the left side of the netbook. The right side houses the 6-in-1 memory card reader, two more USB ports, power jack and the Kensington lock slot.

Performance:

The Gateway LT2016u features a 10.1-inch screen displaying 1024 x 600 pixels. The image is generally very colorful and bright and although the screen is glossy it does not disturb too much.
The built-in 0.3 megapixel camera produces quite clear image and Th. Microphone also works fine, although you should not expect miracles from a 0.3 megapixel camera.
Since the Gateway LT2016u’s speakers are underside the chassis if you hold the netbook on your lap you will most probably muffle the sound, but that should improve if you hold it on a desk. The overall audio quality is quite good, although it might be a bit too quiet.
When it comes to data processing the Gateway LT2016u does quite a good job. The netbook scores 1,528 in a PCMark05 test which is a bit above the netbook average. In real life the netbook works fine. You can browse the internet with a few tabs open and listen to music at the same time so it’s just fine. The netbook rarely overheats and so working with it is a pleasure on most occasions.
Both the 3G performance and the battery performance are great as one might expect.
