LG GW620 also known as the ‚Eve’ is the second LG phone to run Android, yet strangely, only version 1.5 when the latest one is 2.1. The phone features a full QWERTY keyboard, 3-inch touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera and a few more goodies.

LG GW620 pros:

+ Comfy keyboard
+ 5 megapixel camera
+ Supports DivX and XviD videos
+ Camera with plenty of functions
Powerful battery
+ 528 MHz processor and 256 RAM

LG GW620 cons:

- Few personalization options
- Obsolete Android version

The design:
LG GW620 measures 109 x 54.5 x 15.9mm and weighs 139 grams. The front of the LG GW620 houses the 3-inch display and below it are two touch-sensitive keys. When you slide the phone open you will see the the full QWERTY keyboard with 5 row of keys. The key layout reminds the one on a computer keyboard, the keys are responsive and large enough to prevent accidental presses of several buttons at one time. The LG phone has a few standard ports including microUSB, microSD slot, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Performance:
The 3-inch display in the LG GW620 features a resistive technology which means you can use it even in gloves and it has great sunlight legibility. Although the phone runs an old version of Android (1.5) which means you don’t have some of the latest functions the pre-installed applications in fact provide such functionality (as with the support of Exchange server for instance). Although the phone has only a 528MHz processor and 256MB or RAM it runs smoothly and does not lag. The animations and transitions are fast and all the eye candy features make it only more appealing.
The LG GW620 is integrated with social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Bebo to make it easier to keep in touch with your friends.
Multimedia:
The web browser in the LG GW620 is quite useable. The websites are rendered very well but without Flash. However, zooming is not as easy as on the Acer Liquid A1, or HTC Nexus One.
The media player in LG GW620 supports both DivX and XviD videos right out of the box and it plays them in 480×360 resolution.
The audio player displays album artwork and some visualizations. Of course you can browse your music library in a few different ways and make use of the pre-installed equalizer presets.
The built-in 5 megapixel camera has a wide array of features and different options. The interface has plenty of manual options including white balance, exposure control, macro mode, different shooting modes and more. In auto mode the image quality is good in most lighting conditions. Yet, should that be not enough you may tamper with the different options and achieve even better results.
The LG GW620 can also capture videos yet merely in QVGA resolution at 30 fps so it might be ok for YouTube, but little more.

LG GW300 is one of few LG phones to feature a full QWERTY keyboard which makes it a direct competition to BlackBerry phones. + 2.4 Inch TFT 262k Colour Screen (320 x 240 Pixels)
+ 2 Megapixel camera
+ Quad-band GSM support
+ Four-row QWERTY keyboard
+ Standard 3.5mm audio jack
+ 15 MB internal memory
+ Hot-swappable microSD card slot
+ Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP
+ FM radio
+ Standard microUSB port and Mass Storage mode

LG GW300 cons:

- No 3G or Wi-Fi
- Camera has no auto focus or flash
- Video recording no good at QCIF resolution
- No DivX/Xvid video support
- No office document viewer
The design:
LG GW300 measures 105.5 x 61 x 12.8 mm and weighs 95 grams so it is relatively small considering the full keyboard. The phone id made of high quality materials and it is well balanced so it is comfortable. The front of the LG GW300 hosts the 2.4-inch screen and below it you will see the D-pad surrounded by 6 additional keys. Below that all is the full QWERTY keyboard quite useful for teenagers who write tons of messages. The left side of the phone houses the microSD card slot and the volume rocker, whereas the right side of the LG GW300 features only the camera key. The top of the mobile hosts the microUSB slot and the standard 3.5mm audio jack. On the back there is the 2 megapixel camera lens with no flash, or autofocus.

Performance:
The LG GW300 runs on the latest non-touch LG proprietary user interface. It has plenty of animations and transitions, moreover it is quite customizable and thus user-friendly. Although the phone may resemble a BlackBerry its interface is much better than in the BlackBerry Curve 8520 and somewhat resembles the one in the Acer Liquid A1. The entire interface is very straightforward and it supports multitasking so you can listen to music while browsing the internet with the LG GW300.
The phonebook in this LG phone can store up to 1000 contacts with multiple fields for information. The phone has no troubles with signal reception or in-call sound quality. As the LG GW300 is aimed at teenagers who frequently write plenty of messages its messaging system is great. The SMS and MMS share an editor and setting up an email account takes only a few seconds. Additionally, the phone features a Facebook Java application so make it easier to stay in contact with your friends.
Multimedia:
The music player in the LG GW300 is very practical and user-friendly. It can work in background, show animations, album art, sort music in a few different ways and it has several equalizer presets. There is also a radio, but without RDS.
The 2 megapixel camera has no flash, or autofocus and with its rather poor resolution it is hard to take a good looking photo. Even the manual settings cannot help it too much.
The web browser in the LG GW300 is also rather poor. More elaborate websites will not be displayed as there may be too little memory so you will be able to watch them only in the text-only mode.

Moreover, the phone has accelerometer for screen auto rotation and motion based games. The list of LG BL40 New Chocolate’s features is really really long, so read on.

LG BL40 New Chocolate pros:

+ 4.01″ 16M-color capacitive touchscreen of 21:9 aspect ratio
+ Quad-band GSM support and UMTS with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps
+ S-Class Touch UI with pinch zooming and gesture controls
+ Office document viewer
+ Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, microUSB port, TV out
+ Standard 3.5mm audio jack
+ 5-megapixel autofocus camera, Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics, LED flash,

LG BL40 New Chocolate cons:

- Hard to use single-handedly
- Video recording output is very poor
- Piano black surface is a fingerprint magnet
- Web browser with no Flash support
The design:
LG BL40 New Chocolate measures 128 x 51 x 10.9 mm and weighs 129 grams which is quite reasonable. The phone is made of black and shiny plastic (hence the name). The front of the phone is dominated by the 4.01-inch display. Above the display you can find the video-call camera and the earpiece/loudspeaker along with Th.e proximity and ambient light sensors. The right side do the LG BL40 New Chocolate houses the volume rocker and the shutter release button. The left side of the LG phone features dedicated music player button and the microUSB port. The top of the LG BL40 New Chocolate houses the standard 3.5 mm audio jack and power/lock key. The back hosts the 5-megapixel camera lens, microphone for video recording and a LED flash unit. The lens has no protection so you have to be extra careful not to scratch it. The overall build quality is commendable and although the phone might seem a bit too heavy it handles nicely as it is very well balanced.

Performance:
The LG BL40 New Chocolate has quite a powerful battery which according to LG will last for about 400 hours of standby and 6 hours of talking. The user interface on the latest LG phone is seamless and full of pretty transitions, animations and colorful icons. Additionally, thanks to the built-in accelerometer the screen auto rotates and you can also make use of the touchscreen gestures to run applications or unlock the screen. The interface still looks like a cube with one side responsible for all the widgets, one serving as multimedia home-screen, one for contacts and the last one for shortcuts. Everything’s touch optimized and since the LG BL40 New Chocolate supports multitasking you can organize your work pretty efficiently.
Multimedia:
The LG BL40 New Chocolate has a built-in 1 GB memory further expandable via the microSD memory cards (up to 32GB). Getting to your files is smooth even you you have a few hundred photos, or songs. The image gallery has nice transitions and you can zoom in on the photos with pinching. The music player supports plenty of file formats, visualizations, equalizers so you get all you might require for a music player. The audio quality is very good, both using the built-in loudspeaker and headphones. The video player is really surprising. It manages to play full resolution DivX and Xvid videos (even 720p) without any effort. Thanks to the 4-inch screen the videos look great, but if that’s not enough the LG BL40 New Chocolate has the TV-out functionality. The LG BL40 New Chocolate’s digital camera is capable of shooting 2560×1920 photos. With features such as smile detection, geo-tagging, image stabilization, autofocus and panorama there is really little more you might expect. The image quality is good, with accurate color reproduction, little noise and sharp images.

The design:

LG GD900 Crystal measures 105 x 52.5 x 13.5 mm and weighs 127 grams which might seem a bit too much for a slider phone, yet when you consider the built quality and the abundance of features it does not seem that bad. The most noticeable feature in the LG GD900 Crystal’s look is the see-through keypad and the transparent plastic finish. The front of the phone is dominated by the 3” touchscreen displaying 480 x 800 pixels and 16M colors. Above the display there is the proximity sensor which automatically locks the screen then the phone is next to the ear. Near the proximity sensor are the video-call camera and the loudspeaker grill. Below the display is the set of touch sensitive buttons. When you slide the phone open you will see the alphanumeric, see-through keypad. All the keys feel responsive and comfortable. The left side of the LG GD900 Crystal features the microUSB port covered by a lid, whereas the right side houses the volume rocker and the camera key. The back of the phone features the 8 megapixel camera lens, the self-portrait mirror and the LED flash. The overall built quality is very good and the cell phone seems solid and durable.

Performance:

Unfortunately, the screen on the LG GD900 Crystal is hard to read in direct sunlight. The signal reception is always very good, as is the sound quality.
The user interface on the LG GD900 Crystal is practically nothing new and so it should be well known to many readers. There are four homescreens which make it easy to access widgets, multimedia, contacts and shortcuts. At the core of the entire interface is the 3D Cube which still looks nice and can be nowadays found in a number of phones, including the recently reviewed Samsung S800 Jet. The menus look nice and are full of nice transitions and animations. The phone supports multitasking and you can use the CUbe key on the side of the phone to launch the task manager. Yet, the multitasking is somewhat limited as you can run only two applications at a time.
The phonebook can store hundreds of contacts with multiple fields for information such as address, email a few phone numbers and birthday. Of course, you can assign a custom ringtone, or a photo to a contact.
The LG GD900 Crystal has 1.5GB of built-in memory which can still be expanded by a microSD memory card and as the phone supports up to 16GB cards you might want to make use of a file manager. Fortunately the file manager on the LG GD900 Crystal is quite fast and straightforward.

Multimedia:

The LG GD900 Crystal has two photo gallery modes: in portrait mode photos and videos are sorted by date, whereas in landscape mode one photo is in the centre and to at its sides which resembles Apple iPhone’s cover flow view. Also, as the LG GD900 Crystal supports multi-touch you can use similar gestures like on the iPhone to zoom in.
The music player offers quite basic set of functions, such as sorting by artist, genre, album. The phone displays the artwork and thanks to the accelerometer the music player is automatically rotated. There is a number of equalizer presets to choose from and with the Dolby Mobile the sound quality is excellent.
The LG GD900 Crystal features an 8 megapixel camera and although it sounds promising – it in fact is not. Even though the amount of detail is acceptable and the colors are quite good too the amount of noise can spoil every photo you take.
The web browser displays websites quite well so long as they do nye requite Flash player. Panning and scrolling the websites is smooth although opening websites takes a bit too long.

Conclusion:

The LG GD900 Crystal is a well designed, versatile cell phone and depending on your needs it might be just the right thing for you. The phone has excellent connectivity and quite good web browser. Also, the music player and the large screen do a great job especially if you play to use the office document viewer. However, the 8 megapixel camera is a disappointment, as is the video recording. So if you do not need the last two features that much the LG GD900 Crystal is a cell phone for you.

LG GW520 is a refreshed, more polished and updated form of the not so old and very popular LG Cookie. The new LG phone features great connectivity, push email, large, touchscreen and full slide out QWERTY keyboard. Moreover, the LG GW520 has a built-in office document viewer, multitasking support and a 3 megapixel camera which makes it perfect for both business oriented people and those who prefer versatile multimedia support in their phones.

The design:
LG GW520 measures 106.5 x 53 x 15.9 mm and weighs 125.5 grams which is quite standard for such cell phones. The phone is made of high quality materials and makes a solid impression. The design is very simple and without unnecessary buttons, or ports. Thanks to the rubbery finish the LG GW520 feels comfortable at hand and it is fingerprint and scratch resistant. As always with touchscreen phones he front of the LG GW520 is dominated by the 2.8 display below which are three hard buttons. Yet, since the LG GW520 is a slider you can also make use of the full QWERTY keyboard with comfortable keys. The left side of the cell phone features the volume rocker, whereas the right side houses the microSD memory card slot, the camera key and the key lock. The top houses the microUSB port and the only thing on the bottom of LG GW520 is the mouthpiece. The back go the LG phone features the 3 megapixel camera lens together with a loudspeaker, but no flash.

LG GW520

Performance:
The LG GW520 handles making phone calls very well. There are no issues with signal reception or sound quality. The LG GW520 runs on the latest LG proprietary flash based interface which has quite nice animations and transitions. The overall performance of the interface is very good with smooth scrolling and very responsive actions. You can, of course, customize it a bit and add widgets to the homescreen. The LG GW520 comes with 12 preinstalled widgets and as it supports multitasking you can do a lot of things with this phone. The menu system is intuitive and thanks to the accelerometer it is easy to navigate.
The phonebook in the LG GW520 can store up to 1000 contacts. You can group contacts, assign personal ringtones and pictures and provide much information in appropriate (14) fields.
The messaging with the LG GW520 is a real pleasure. You can use the touchscreen with a virtual keyboard or the full QWERTY keyboard to write you MSM, MMS and email messages. Setting up an email account takes just a few seconds and you are ready to go. The maximum file size for outgoing email attachments is 2.2 which should be quite enough to send photos taken with the LG GW520. Moreover, the phone can opes the office document files and has a Facebook Java app.

Multimedia:
The image gallery on the LG GW520 is fast and allows for browsing the photos in the landscape and portrait modes. You also get a image editor but who would want to use such a thing on a mobile phone?
The music player on the LG GW520 may work in the background and it shows album art and has a few equalizer presets. You can browse your music library by artist, genre, album and so on so you get all you can expect from a music player.
The LG GW520 also features an FM radio with RDS and memory for up to 50 radio stations.
The video player is just sufficient with nothing special like DivX or XviD.
The camera in the LG GW520 is capable of taking 3 megapixel photos 2048 x 1536) with fixed focus and of flash so you can forget about nightshooting. The camera interface is simple so you will not even have to look at the manual. The image quality is quite good. The photos are sharp, but not oversharpened, with acceptable noise level and good colors. The video recording in the LG GW520 is rather poor with QVGA resolution and 3GP file format.
The LG GW520 comes with a good web browser displaying web sites on the phone like a computer would on a large screen. Both scrolling and zooming are fast and the only thing about browsing the net with LG GW520 that we didn’t like is the lack of Flash support.

LG GW520 full QWERTY keyboard

Conclusion:
All in all, the LG GW520 is a very good phone considering its price and the array of features. It has some features for everyone: good connectivity and office document viewer for businessmen and great music player and good camera for teenagers.
